What Is Night City Racing?

Night City Racing is a 3D driving game built around fast races, epic stunts and a fleet of supercars, all set against the glow of a city after dark.

Developed by RHM Interactive and released in 2023, it runs in the browser with no download. It blends structured racing with open stunt play: you can grind through a ladder of races against AI, attack quirky challenge objectives, or simply roam a free-drive sandbox full of ramps. The night-time setting gives every mode a slick, neon-lit atmosphere.

There are ten supercars in total — two to start and eight more to buy with the currency you earn — and each can be tuned through a deep upgrade menu covering engine, brakes, agility, turbo and booster, plus cosmetic rims and paint. The locations range from city streets to airfields and open arenas built for big air.

With 16 progressive races, a five-objective challenge mode, an open free-drive stunt mode and split-screen two-player racing, Night City Racing packs a lot of variety into a free browser game — and looks great doing it under the city lights.

How to Play Night City Racing

  1. Pick one of your supercars and choose a mode — racing, challenges, free drive or two-player.
  2. Drive with WASD or the arrow keys through the night-time streets and arenas.
  3. Hold Shift for an NOS boost to win races and clear big stunt ramps.
  4. Work through the 16 progressive races against AI to earn currency for new cars and upgrades.
  5. Press R to reset your position if you crash or get stuck, and T to look back.
  6. Spend your earnings on engine, turbo and handling upgrades, then take on faster events.

Tips & Strategies

1

Upgrade handling, not just power. Agility and brake upgrades win tight city races more often than raw engine power alone.

2

Save NOS for the exits. Triggering your boost as you straighten out of a corner carries more speed down the next straight.

3

Learn the 16 races in order. Each is a step up in difficulty, so the currency from early wins funds the upgrades you need for later ones.

4

Use Free Drive to scout ramps. The open stunt mode is the best place to learn the biggest jumps without race pressure.

5

Reset early when you spin. Tapping R to reset is faster than trying to recover a botched corner mid-race.

6

Grab a friend for split-screen. Two-player racing on one keyboard is where the game gets the most lively.

Why Play Night City Racing?

Night City Racing hits a sweet spot between arcade racer and stunt sandbox, all wrapped in a stylish after-dark setting. The 16-race ladder gives you a clear goal and a steady stream of cars to unlock and tune, while the free-drive and challenge modes keep things fresh when you want a break from competition. Split-screen multiplayer is the cherry on top, turning a solid solo racer into a couch-competitive one. It is a polished, varied free racing game that looks great and plays even better.

Cars and Upgrades in Night City Racing

Night City Racing starts you with two supercars and lets you buy eight more using the currency you earn from races and challenges, for ten in total. Each car has its own balance of speed and handling, so the right one depends on whether you favour outright pace or nimble cornering through the city.

The upgrade menu is genuinely deep for a browser game. You can improve engine, brakes, agility, turbo and booster performance, then finish the look with custom rims and paint. Because tight city circuits reward control as much as speed, investing in agility and brakes often pays off more than chasing top speed.

The smart route is to upgrade one car thoroughly rather than spreading currency thinly across several. A fully tuned mid-tier supercar will carry you through most of the 16-race ladder before you need to splash out on a faster machine.

Modes: Races, Challenges and Free Drive

The core of Night City Racing is its 16 progressive races against AI, each a step harder than the last. Working through them in order is the natural way to play, since the rewards from early wins fund the upgrades that make later races winnable.

Challenge mode mixes things up with five distinct objectives, including unusual tests like racing against the clock or even against aircraft. It is a welcome change of pace from straight wheel-to-wheel racing.

Free Drive throws structure out entirely, dropping you into an open environment full of ramps and obstacles to stunt around. It is the best place to experiment with big jumps and learn how each car behaves in the air, away from the pressure of a race.

Split-Screen Two-Player Racing

One of Night City Racing's standout features is local split-screen multiplayer. Two players can race head-to-head on the same computer, each with their own half of the screen — a genuinely fun and increasingly rare feature in free browser games.

It turns the game into a great pick for playing with a friend or sibling on one keyboard, settling who is the better driver across the game's varied locations.

Combined with the deep single-player progression, the split-screen mode means Night City Racing works just as well as a solo grind toward a fully upgraded supercar as it does for a quick competitive session with someone next to you.
